The Historic Harbour of Pittenweem

Pittenweem (Scottish Gaelic: Baile na h-Uaimh) means ‘The Place of the Caves.’ The village grew along the shoreline from the west where the sheltered beaches were safe places for fishermen to draw their boats up out of the water. It is one of a string of pretty seaside villages in the East Neuk connected by the scenic Fife Coastal Path.   Pittenweem is noted for its historic harbour and attractive wynds. Nearby locations were used for the popular TV drama series ‘Outlander.’
